Fared KTM Duke 390 Launch In India Soon– Official Website Updated

There are no two ways to it that the KTM as tasted immense success in the Europe and has been garnering quite a lot of volumes when it comes to India. KTM Duke 200 is the first bike from the European bike maker’s stable of its Indian portfolio. The next big thing in orange is going to be, wait for it, a full faired sportsbike, the Duke 390. Yes, you heard it right.

KTM’s CEO Stefan Pierer has confirmed that the India bound Duke 390 would not be the naked version as shown at EICMA 2012, but instead will be a full faired version and shall reach the Indian shores sooner than we expect it to. It makes sense for India as the KTM Duke 390 was virtually indistinguishable to the common man and the full faired bike lends it the Superbike-ish feel.
After the faired version, there would be a touring model of the bike and the supermotard version as some speculated would not be reaching Indian shores.

Under that fairing will be a 375 cc , 44 BHP engine that was the talk of the town at EICMA held in Milan some time back. It would not offer as scary a performance as the naked version due to the changes made for the faired version. Suspension will be retuned and the fairing would add weight to the bike.

It comes at a time when Honda announced their 500 series and it might just be the party spoiler for them. They belong to different segments but the Dukes are going to cost almost half as much as the Hondas. Take the next bit of information with a pinch of salt. We hear it is going to be price somewhere around the INR 2 lakh mark whereas the Hondas are going to cost almost double when they come to India. So Dukes definitely have an edge over the Hondas.
