Dual sport motorcycles are one of a kind and so are their lovers. Not many people buy such bikes but who do, definitely enjoy cruising over them. One of the most popular bike of this segment is the BMW R1200GS but recently Triumph has launched the 2012 iteration of another popular contender, the Tiger Explorer.
Talking about the bike the company says, ” It sports a high specification that will see it set a new benchmark in the adventure touring class.” High specification has been used to describe the bike because it sports an all new 1215 CC three cylinder engine that is claimed to produce 135 BHP of max power and 89 ft. lbs. of peak torque.
Flaunting the 2012 Tiger Explorer Triumph says, “The strong tubular steel trellis frame bears a strong visual resemblance to other models in the Triumph family, while the single-sided rear swingarm showcases the 17″ 10-spoke rear wheel. Adjustable 46mm front forks allow the rider to tailor the Tiger Explorer to their individual needs and riding conditions, with the long-travel suspension and 19″ front wheel giving the Tiger Explorer the capability to cope with unpaved roads.”
Obviously one cannot step out without top notch safety features considering how powerful the bike is, so Triumph offers cruise control, switchable traction control system, and switchable ABS. The comfort features do no end here as the Tiger Explorer comes with adjustable screen and handlebars and a height adjustable seat(from 33.7 to 31.6 inches). Instrumentation features include ambient air temperature with ice warning, optional tire pressure monitoring system etc.
List of accessories on the motorcycle include a two box pannier system which has a capacity of 60 litres and a top-box having 35 litres of capacity which is enough to keep a full face helmet. The electronic accessories are class leading and therefore Tiger Explorer comes with a 950 W generator. The same is used for heating rider and pillion seats, heating grips, fog lights etc.
