Every manufacturer in the litre and over the litre class is trying to push the engine power close to or above the 200 mark. The new Yamaha R1, BMW S1000RR, Kawasaki ZX10R and the ZX14R, the Ducati 1299 Panigale, the Aprilia RSV4RR- the desirable lineup of these bikes, all hover around the new engine performance standard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ridetalks.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Norton-1200cc-V4-Superbike.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2952\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ridetalks.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Norton-1200cc-V4-Superbike.jpg\" alt=\"Norton 1200cc V4 Superbike\" width=\"666\" height=\"420\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And though it would be quite obvious to expect a Japanese or European motorcycle manufacturer to push the horsepower envelope to its absolute limit- a company like Norton would be the last thing on one\u2019s mind when thinking of insane power packed into two wheels. But then here it is- no, not the motorcycle but the first ever sketches of Norton\u2019s 200hp 1,200cc V4 Superbike. All thanks to Brit website BikeSocial who have not only revealed the sketch images but also brought to light a lot more details about the motorcycle through Norton\u2019s head of Design- Simon Skinner.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ridetalks.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Norton-SG4-Superbike-Isle-of-Man-TT.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2948\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ridetalks.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Norton-SG4-Superbike-Isle-of-Man-TT-720x571.jpg\" alt=\"Norton SG4 Superbike Isle of Man TT\" width=\"720\" height=\"571\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ridetalks.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Norton-SG4-Superbike-Isle-of-Man-TT-720x571.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.ridetalks.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Norton-SG4-Superbike-Isle-of-Man-TT.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Intended to lock horns with the Ducati 1299 Panigale, the\u00a0Norton 200 bhp V4 superbike\u00a0is slated to be designed on similar lines of the Norton SG4 litre class V4 that have raced at Isle of Man TT. The engine would be developed by Ricardo Motorcycles drawing design influences from British marques such as Aston Martin and the British F1 car industry. More technical details as per Skinner:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ridetalks.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Norton-V4-200-bhp-Superbike.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2951\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ridetalks.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Norton-V4-200-bhp-Superbike.jpg\" alt=\"Norton V4 200 bhp Superbike\" width=\"666\" height=\"441\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>1200cc 72 degree V4 &#8211; 200+bhp but focus on drivability, character and design quality.<\/li>\n<li>Full carbon body work inspired by iconic cars such as the McLaren P1 and Aston Martin One-77 for inspiration in complicated design that cannot be done with plastics.<\/li>\n<li>Aerospace aluminum and billet parts utilized for the mainframe construction with in-house welding and hand polishing.<\/li>\n<li>Carbon wheels<\/li>\n<li>Single sided swingarm- either carbon or billet, to be decided.<\/li>\n<li>LED headlamps with angel eye daylight running lights.<\/li>\n<li>GP spec electronics with full colour dash, traction control and ABS<\/li>\n<li>Hand polished Billet yokes<\/li>\n<li>Underseat fuel tank and GP style bike packaging<\/li>\n<li>Top line running gear, Ohlins gas forks and TTX rear shock<\/li>\n<li>Under slung silencer with titanium headers<\/li>\n<li>Brembo monoblock brakes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ridetalks.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Norton-1200cc-V4-Superbike-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2949\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ridetalks.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Norton-1200cc-V4-Superbike-2.jpg\" alt=\"Norton 1200cc V4 Superbike (2)\" width=\"666\" height=\"443\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since Norton\u2019s revival in 2008, the V4 project has always been an ambitious project for Simon Skinner and Norton boss Stuart Garner and its only recently that the Donington Park based manufacturer got a \u00a34 million grant from the UK Government giving a much needed push to the assignment.
