Yamaha R25 Sold In Indonesia To Get ABS In 2015

After the success of ABS model in Japan, Indonesian model of YZF-R25 is expected to get a new safety feature- ABS from 2015. The bike will become more safer as the wheels will not lock even if the brake is applied very hard. R25 is offered as an entry-level model in the sport bike category for developed markets like Japan and Europe. The Japan model is already equipped with ABS. This feature is mandatory in Europe.

Otonity.com, an Indonesian blog states that, according to Mr. Mohammad Masykur, Assistant General, Marketing, PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM), the Indonesia YSF R25 model will be offered with ABS starting from the first half of 2015. ABS model has already been exported to Japan but due to high demands of model in the domestic market, company has to scale down its exports.

The bike draws power from 250 cc liquid-cooled, in-line, four-stroke, two-cylinder engine, which can churn out a power of 36 bhp, 12,000 rpm and a peak torque of 22.1 Nm at 10,000 rpm. It  measures 2,090 mm in length, 720 mm in width, 1,135 mm in height and has a seat height of 780 mm.

What is ABS?

ABS or Anti-Locking Braking System is a safety system provided in automobiles due to which wheels on the automobile maintain tractive contact with the road surface according to driver inputs while braking. It further prevents the wheels from locking up and avoid uncontrolled skidding.

Yamaha R25-3

It is not sure whether R25 with ABS will make its way to the Indian market or not. If it comes to India, we expect it to come in 2016 with ABS feature as the Indian government is planning to make ABS compulsory for two wheelers sold in India.Indonesian bike enthusiasts will hopefully see Yamaha R25 ABS version soon, giving them a safe ride.
