Indian Yamaha Motors announced on 23rd July 2012 that it has signed popular and leading actress Deepika Padukone to endorse its upcoming scooter range in India. This is the first time that Deepika is endorsing an automobile in India and her popularity will help promote the new range of scooters which are targeted towards women in India. While actor John Abraham will continue to be the brand ambassador of the company’s flagship bikes, Deepika will be the face of Yamaha Scooters in India.
Deepika will appear in the TV commercials of the Yamaha Scooters including Yamaha Ray which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2012 in India. The bubbly image of Deepika compliments sporty and stylish scooters of Yamaha for its female customers. Yamaha India is confident that Deepika’s positive image and style quotient, popularity with Indian youth will give the required attention to the new products by Yamaha which are targeted towards young women in India.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Hiroyuki Suzuki, CEO and MD, India Yamaha Motor Pvt.Ltd. said,

The Yamaha Ray, which is expected to be the main product by Yamaha in scooter series is expected to be powered by a 100 to 110 CC four stroke engine with a CVT based automatic or gearless system. The power is expected to be close to 9 BHP and peak torque of close to 10 Nm.
Ray will compete with popular products like Hero Pleasure, Honda Activa, Honda Dio etc. which are selling quite well in India. The scooter market in India is growing quite well because of congested roads and heavy traffic in cities. Gearless scooters offer fast and comfortable commuting at very affordable prices compared to other modes of local transports in India.
Yamaha Ray Expected Price In India
Yamaha Ray is expected to be priced between Rs. 45,000 to Rs. 50,000 in India as per our expectations. The launch is expected in before November 2012 in India.
