While majority global markets have affinity for performance motorcycles, there are still many asian markets that rely on commuter motorcycles which are low on power but high on fuel efficiency. One such market is India where more than 90 percent of the two-wheelers are designed keeping in mind the demand for high fuel efficiency.
TVS Motor Company, a renowned automobile firm, has launched a new 125 CC commuter motorcycle in the Indian market. Called as TVS Phoenix, the motorcycle is the second entry level product from TVS in this very segment, the first one being TVS Flame which was launched a few years back.
The Phoenix is claimed to be a premium motorcycle and it comes loaded with several interesting features. Another fact about this motorcycle is that equips a highly refined 125 CC EcoThrust engine that not only provides excellent pickup but best in class fuel efficiency as well.
Speaking at the launch, Venu Srinivasan, Chairman, TVS Motor Company said, “We have developed an all new engine for this motorcycle. It complements several unique features to ensure ‘premium ride quality’. With this launch, we hope to increase our market share in the segment. This launch also completes our motorcycle product portfolio.”
The 125 CC EcoThrust engine is great for city traffic and puts out a max power of 11 BHP at 8000 RPM. It is coupled to a 4 speed gearbox and the claimed fuel efficiency figure is 67 KMPL.
“We expect TVS Phoenix to get a fillip with the festival season coming up and are targeting sales of around fifteen thousand per month.” Srinivasan added.
