2013 Honda Activa, Aviator and Dio Launched With Eco Technology- 60 KMPL Mileage

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India today launched the 2013 Honda Activa, Aviator and Dio range of gearless scooter with improved engine technology which Honda calls as Honda Eco Technology. With this new technology, the 2013 Range of Honda scooters become the most fuel efficient gearless scooters in India with a mileage of around 60 KMPL. To achieve this high mileage, Honda has improved on the engine by reducing the friction losses, friction in engine cause engine to heat up and reduce the efficiency. The combustion inside the engine has also been improved by intelligent designing and the transmission (CVT automatic) used in the gearless scooters of Honda has also been optimized. Together with these improvements, the new variants deliver 11% higher fuel efficiency under standard test conditions.

There is no cosmetic changes or facelift introduces in these engines, the changes are all on the engine and transmission level which make them more efficient and more pleasure to ride.

2013 Honda Activa Price and Features

The new 2013 Honda Activa is priced at Rs. 47,188 (USD $ 870) ex-showroom Delhi in India. It is powered by an air cooled 109 CC 4 stroke engine with Honda Eco Technology or HET. It develop a peak power of 8 BHP and peak torque of 8.74 Nm. There is a new colour added to the range which is Wild purple metallic. The other 4 existing colour options include- Black, Geny Grey Metallic, Pearl Sunbeam White and Candy Lucid Red.

The new 2013 Honda Aviator is priced at Rs. 48,212 (USD $ 880) and the deluxe version at Rs. 53,513 (USD $ 970)  ex-showroom Delhi in India. It comes with a new colour which is Royal Gold Metallic along with other colours which are- Pearl Igneous Black, Rebel Red Metallic and Pearl Sunbeam White. It comes with a more stylish exterior design, same engine and transmission like the Activa, but has improved suspension and additional features which are:

The new 2013 Honda Dio is priced at Rs 44,701 (USD $ 810) ex-showroom  Delhi in India. It also gets a new colour which is Pearl Trance Yellow in addition to existing 3 shades – Sports Red, Mat Axis Grey Metallic, Pearl Sunbeam White.

Along with the new products launched in India on 17th January 2013, Honda also inaugurated it new Technical center which is first of its kind in India which will cover all operations like design, engineering, BOP, Purchase and quality control all under one roof. This will take the Indian operations of Honda Two wheelers further with more research oriented work happening in India.

The facility is spread over 1000 square meters and will employ 200 engineers in the R&D Department of HMSI in India. This facility has a wind tunnel facility as well to analyze the aerodynamic performance of the two wheelers to make the designs better for improved efficiency and performance. It houses state-of-the art research infrastructure and equipment used in the automobile research facilities.
